HATTIESBURG, MISS. – United Way of Southeast Mississippi is hosting the Marion County Education & Health Fair on Saturday, July 13, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Columbia Expo Center. Sponsored by the City of Columbia, this free event provides information from 20+ educational and health resources available to Marion County households. As supplies last, the event will include school supplies and uniforms, children’s books, free kids' haircuts, basic health screenings, and refreshments. There will be a Touch A Truck area for children to explore various types of working vehicles and an area for parents to get their child's safety seat inspected. The media is invited to attend.
** From now through July 1, we are looking for businesses, churches, groups, and individuals to host school supply drives to collect the school supplies we will use to hand out at the event. The items we need are: crayons, pencils, erasers, loose-leaf notebook paper, notebooks, binders, folders with pockets, and highlighters. If you want to host a school supply drive or donate supplies, please contact Amy Lyon at amy@unitedwaysems.org or 601-475-0218.
