Foxworth Grocery on U.S. 98 was robbed early Tuesday morning of a substantial but undisclosed amount of money, a crime that is currently being investigated by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
The burglary occurred between 3 and 4 a.m. in Foxworth, and investigators said the burglars broke into the store, stole cash and broke into the ATM machine. While it’s unclear just how much the burglars were able to get from the ATM, Cpt. Pete Williams said they clearly knew what they were doing.
“They would have had to know exactly where to get into it,” Williams said.
The investigation is still in its early stages, and investigators are reviewing security footage and other leads.
