The Marion County Sheriff’s Office was busy with safety checkpoints that yielded multiple arrests earlier this month.
At a checkpoint at Stuckey Road and CR Conerly Road in Kokomo on Nov. 15, Brandon Keith Haddox, 37, of Purvis was arrested. Deputies observed suspected narcotics in plain view. Upon further investigation, Haddox was allegedly in possession of methamphetamine, heroin, syringes, spoons with drug residue and a digital scale with residue. In addition, he was charged with DUI other substance, according to Capt. Pete Williams.
At a separate checkpoint on Nov. 15, Kristi R. Ihrig, 39, of Kokomo was stopped at the intersection of Mississippi 586 and Stovall Road. While being observed for a possible DUI, Ihrig had methamphetamine on her person. A search of her vehicle revealed heroin and methamphetamine in excess of 38 grams, leading to a drug trafficking charge. She was also charged with felony possession for the heroin and DUI other substance, according to Williams.

The Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the Columbia Police Department, served narcotics indictments on Nov. 19. While serving an indictment on Dennis Alvin Lowe, 54, of Columbia, he was found to be in possession of one pound of marijuana while in possession of a firearm as a felon. He was charged with sale, manufacture, possession with intent of marijuana, controlled substance enhanced penalty possession of firearm at crime/scene and possession of a weapon by a felon.

Haddox is currently in the Marion County Jail as of press time with a $31,000 bond. Ihrig is free after posting a $50,500 bond, and Lowe is also free on a $16,000 bond.
