Columbia man attempts to run over female

A 20-year-old Columbia man has been charged with felony aggravated assault, a charge that carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, for attempting to run over a woman with his vehicle.
Columbia Police say Conard Watts had went over to the woman’s house on East Rankin Street on Aug. 5 and an argument ensued.

City approves new noise ordinance

The City of Columbia has instituted a new noise ordinance that makes it illegal to play audio that can be heard 50 feet away either from a speaker or a vehicle of any sort or own an animal that makes loud noises for 10 minutes straight.
