Following a burglary at Columbia Auto Service, business owner Brian Roney says he is still trying to figure out what is missing.
“I’ll go to reach for a tool or something and I’ll realize that it isn’t there. I’m realizing things all the time,” he said Tuesday.
Police are looking for a man who stole a truck, which was found Sunday, and other items from the South High School Avenue building last week.
“A male suspect entered the business and took miscellaneous auto repair equipment, a television, and stole a 1997 GMC Sierra truck,” Lt. Cmdr. Jonathan Harrison said. “He also stole a 22-caliber compact revolver and a 1992 Yamaha Timberwolf four-wheeler that is green.”
Roney said he particularly needs the four-wheeler back.
“I use it to push and pull vehicles in and out of the shop. We’ve gotten some leads, but we need more information,” he said.
Roney posted a series of surveillance videos on Facebook and said in a post that the incident occurred late Thursday or early Friday between the hours of 11 p.m. and 1 a.m. The videos show a man wearing a long-sleeved shirt, shorts and a mask rummaging through the shop.
Numerous tools, computers and electronic devices were taken, but many of the items were discovered Friday behind the Family Dollar on South High School.
“I’m closed on Fridays, so it wasn’t discovered until the items were found,” he said. “I got a call from the police that they had found my stuff.”
On Sunday, police received a small break in the case when they received a call about the GMC Sierra.
“The truck was recovered off Mississippi 13 on John D. Fortenberry Road,” Harrison said. “We are still looking for the suspect at this time. Any information is appreciated.”

“We really appreciate any leads we can get,” Roney said.
