A wreck blocked both eastbound lanes of U.S. 98 outside Foxworth Monday night, and emergency personnel were on the scene treating victims.
The accident involved a 2012 Ford Mustang with Marion County tags driven by Kristopher Busby, and a 2003 GMC Sierra 3500 driven by Corey Jarrell, according to the Highway Patrol.
They were both driving east when the Mustang lost control and hit the left side of an empty cattle trailer being pulled behind the truck, the Patrol said. The Mustang ended up in the middle of the highway and was badly damaged, with the front driver’s side tire missing.
The initial call over the radio reported the driver was able to get out of the vehicle himself. Foxworth Volunteer Fire Department Chief Mickey Graham said the driver declined medical treatment from AAA but was taken by a Southwest Marion volunteer firefighter to the hospital in a private vehicle.
A few hundred yards down 98, the truck had heavy damage to its driver’s side, and a AAA crew was helping someone inside an ambulance.
The accident happened about 3 miles west of Foxworth near Shiloh-Firetower Road. The Foxworth, South Marion and Southwest Marion volunteer fire departments were on the scene along with the Sheriff’s Office and AAA Ambulance.
