Marion County residents don’t have to travel out of town for quality clothing. At Courtney Company, customers have access to all sorts of name-brand apparel at affordable prices.
Located next to its sister store, Wise Buys, off of U.S. 98 in Columbia, Courtney Company has something for everyone in various sizes. Crystal Upton, a manager at the store, praised the men’s selection for its variety.
“We have a little bit of something for everyone, for anyone in your family – kids, men or women,” she said. “I think our men’s selection is very good with a very good size selection because we carry the workwear, the Chinos, suits, polos and all of those things.”
Name brands that can be found at Courtney Company include Levi’s, Calvin Klein, Adidas, Champion and Under Armor, with the products often still having the manufacturer’s tags on them. The secret is that bigger department stores such as Costco, who have plenty of products sold at Courtney Company, have overstock items or clothes that have gone out of season, allowing the Columbia retailer to purchase and resell them at a lower rate.
“We try to keep a good selection all year round,” Upton said. “It’s brand new stuff – just stuff that was left over from a previous season – and then we get to sell it here for a discounted price.”
The store was started by owner Gregory Courtney in October 2023 after he saw a need for discounted clothing in Marion County, and Courtney Company has been serving the community ever since.
