Tim and Shannon Roberts’ home on Church Street Extension has been selected as the October Yard of the Month.
Shannon and Tim said they enjoy having their yard look nice and neat when they pull into their driveway.
“We’re very proud and very appreciative that they feel our yard is worthy of that,” Shannon said. “We take pride in it and have done a lot of work on it the last few years.”
Tim said they actually looked at the property 20 years and that they can’t believe they own it today.
The yard contains a rock walkway on the side of the house, which is Shannon’s favorite aspect of the lawn.
“I like the front porch, too, and just the way (the yard) looks when you look at it from the street. It looks inviting and welcoming,” she added. “It has that traditional Southern look.”
Shannon said they have done a lot of work on the yard the past few years, removing stumps from trees damaged during storms, planting new bushes and trees and adding the rock walkway.
Brenda Pounds of Pine Needle Garden Club said the yard was nominated a year ago and that the club has kept tabs on it ever since.
Clay Reagan of LandTech Co. was the landscape designer and does yearly maintenance, and Gary Hugh Regan performs weekly maintenance and trimming.
