Katie Broom and her family at 1402 Broad St. are honored to be the recipients of the July Yard of the Month.
“It’s an honor because I do take pride in my yard,” Broom said. “I’ve done everything myself, and I love to keep a neat yard.”
Broom added it was an unexpected honor, and she appreciates being chosen.
“To see all the beautiful yards awards, I never thought mine would measure up,” she said.
Deborah King of Golden Acres Hilltop Garden Club said she loves how tidy and trimmed Katie keeps the yard.
“It’s very open, and you can see it. People enjoy it as they go by. We like to pick yards that people do enjoy as they do go by,” she said. “The front door and all of that just stood out to us.”
Broom said she focuses on maintaining a neat, manicured look and loves doing her own yard.
