New Harvest Worship Center will be holding its annual Smoke-Off Competition Saturday at the church on Bullis Street.
This year the competition will be Boston butts with dry rubs only. Judging will be at 3:30 p.m.
Pastor Donald Aaron said people will be there all day to set up and will stay as late as need be. Vendors will also be set up as well.
While the judging is only for the Boston butts, there will be a variety of food to enjoy like smoked chicken, fried chicken, chitterlings, Jackie’s Famous Chicken Wings, ribs, smoked pork chops, fried catfish, grilled cabbage, tea cakes, sweet tea, lemonade and much more. Food plates are $7.99.
If you are interested in entering the competition, there is a $35 fee. All funds raised at the event will go toward future church projects. Aaron said the goal is to have good food, good fun and good fellowship. Call Aaron at (601) 441-0371 for details.
