A man wanted by Columbia police in connection with a drive-by shooting was arrested last week and faces a plethora of charges.
The Columbia Police Department served a high-risk warrant on Aug. 8 and arrested Henry J. Peters, 28, of Columbia and charged him in connection with a drive-by shooting that took place in July.
“It was part of a shooting that took place around Barnes Street,” CPD Capt. Johnny Barnes said. “The shots fired struck a car. One of our officers met him around Ward’s and he ran down Lafayette Street and jumped out around Nathan Street and ran. We had been hunting him for a while and we finally got some information as to where he was and got him.”
Peters was arrested at a home on D Street and faces charges that include the drive-by shooting, fleeing a law enforcement officer, simple assault by threat, disobedience of traffic control devices (two counts), speeding and a previous contempt of court charge that had a $138.75 cash only bond. Bonds on the other charges were set in Marion County Justice Court and totaled $20,000.
Peters remained in the Marion County Jail as of deadline Thursday.
