The November Yard of the Month has been awarded to Cheryl Rankin.
Rankin, who lives on Sumrall Road, has a beautiful, manicured yard. But that wasn’t the case two years ago when she moved back home. Her mother’s health had been failing so the yard wasn’t able to be kept up.
Rankin, with the help of James Randolph, keeps her yard simple but elegant with drift roses and robin holly trees.
Rankin said her parents, Dot and Thomas Rankin, built the home in 1955. The land where the home sits was once part of a pecan orchard.
Deborah King with the Hilltop/Golden Acres Garden Club said the color of the home pairs perfectly with the colors of the flowers and shrubbery.
The combination has proven to be beautiful.
