A roadblock on U.S. 98 led to the discovery of several stolen weapons for Columbia police.
Lejontae Tyrell Humphrey, 21, Travell Ralph William Benson, 19, and Shawan Frentez Allen, 19, all of Brookhaven, each face several charges following the weekend incident.
“They were all three charged with possession of stolen firearms out of Lincoln County,” Lt. Cmdr. Jonathan Harrison said Monday. “They came through a safety checkpoint on U.S. 98 and the weapons and some marijuana were discovered.”
Humphrey was charged with possession of two or more stolen weapons, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, providing false information to a law enforcement officer and possession of a controlled substance (marijuana – under 30 grams). His bond was set at $12,000 and he remained in the Marion County Regional Correctional Facility as of deadline Tuesday. Harrison said Humphrey’s previous convictions in Lincoln County were on aggravated assault, grand larceny and auto burglary.
Benson was charged with possession of two or more stolen weapons and of a controlled substance (marijuana – under 30 grams). His bond was set at $6,000 and he remained in jail as of deadline Tuesday.
Allen was also charged with possession of two or more stolen weapons and of a controlled substance (marijuana – under 30 grams). His bond was set at $6,000 and he had bonded out as of Tuesday morning.
