A traffic stop last Saturday in Columbia resulted in the seizure of a controlled substance (ice), cash and the arrest of a Columbia man.
The Columbia Police Department arrested Dameon LaShawn Alexander, 21, and charged him with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (ice) with intent to sell and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
Ice, along with speed and base, is a form of the potent stimulant drug methamphetamine. Also referred to as shabu, crystal, crystal meth or d-meth, ice is the purest and most potent form of methamphetamine. It comes as a powder or crystals that are usually snorted, injected or smoked.
According to a CPD report, Alexander was found to have several individual baggies containing ice on his person, which was found to weigh 3.4 grams. In addition, $225 in cash was seized.
Alexander was taken to the Marion County Jail and had a bond of $50,000 set in Marion County Justice Court.
Alexander remained in jail as of early Tuesday.
