The Woodlawn Prep Wolfpack remained perfect in district play with another big home win on Senior Night, downing district foe Sharkey Issaquena Academy 64-56 to advance to 12-4 overall and 6-0 against district opponents.
The Wolfpack's win was spurred by big performances from sophomores Braylon Reed and Cole Sinclair. Reed led all scorers with 25 in the contest, followed closely by Sinclair with 24. Woodlawn Prep made 11 of 16 free throw attempts, several of which came in the final two minutes as they withstood a late comeback attempt and secured their second straight win.
The Columbia Lady Wildcats accomplished a similar feat, downing district foe Sumrall 46-33 to remain a perfect 7-0 against Region 7-4A competition. The Wildcats took another tough district road loss, falling 62-39 to the Bobcats. Both teams have three remaining contests on their regular-season schedules, each of which will be played on their home floor, starting Friday night when they both host district games against Purvis.
East Marion split a pair of district home games with Amite County on Tuesday, with the boys earning a 51-42 victory and the girls falling 38-32 to the Lady Trojans. The Lady Eagles (2-14, 1-4) have been eliminated from playoff contention, but the Eagles (12-4, 3-2) currently sit at second place in the Region 7-2A standings with two games remaining in the regular season. Both teams will host games against West Lincoln on Friday, followed by another pair of home games against Loyd Star on Tuesday for senior night.
The CA Cougars and Lady Cougars will be back in action Friday as well for the final road games of the regular season against Brookhaven Academy. Both will be looking to bounce back from losses on Saturday against Lamar Christian, in which the boys lost 46-44 and the girls lost 43-37. Both teams will wrap up the regular season with two home games next week, hosting Oak Forest on Tuesday and Christian Collegiate on Friday.
The West Marion Trojans (5-15, 3-3) and Lady Trojans (17-2, 5-1) will travel to Perry Central on Friday for their penultimate road trip of the season. On Tuesday they'll make one final road trip to Tylertown before closing out the regular season at home next Friday against St. Patrick.
