For eight years, Keith Preston lived in a world of gray, a world defined by the hum of dialysis machines, failing health and the constant shadow of severe diabetes.

Charles Broom concealed a bag containing more than 11 grams of methamphetamine during a traffic stop in March. He attempted to elude the Marion County Sheriff’s Office by turning around when he spotted a safety checkpoint. The C-P was conducting a ride along during the stop.
