We could all use a little more
I saw a man last week give a hundred dollar bill to someone, then walk away. I caught up to him, having the curiosity that I inherited from my mother, and asked him what he was doing. He replied and said, " I went up to Bok Homa and won a jackpot of over a thousand dollars." "Well," he said, "I told God that I would split the profit with Him if I won." Not being quite sure how to respond to him from a theological standpoint, I asked him why he didn't put it all in an offering plate? He said, "God loves everyone, not just a particular congregation, and the folks we meet on the highways and byways of life all belong to Him, the "good" and the bad, those that rejoice alongside those who are sad, the high and mighty(in their own hearts), and the down and outers, (the invisible onouter,. The abused and neglected and even the abusers, and the well fed, they all belong to God, and He has such great love for each and every one of them!" So, I chose some random folks that I met, told them that Jesus loved them, and gave to them a hundred dollars because we could all use just a little bit more from time to time"
I have not seen the man since, but I ponder in my own heart, whether God is pleased by this kind of action. I like to believe, and have read nothing prohibiting it, that He is.
Blessings to all,
Timothy
