Dakota “Kota” Johnson

On Tuesday, June 4, 2024, Dakota “Kota” Johnson, of Sandy Hook, Mississippi, passed from this life into God’s presence at the age of 24 and is walking the streets of gold.
Known for being a hard worker, he was a derrick man employed with Challenger Deepwell Servicing, Inc. He enjoyed anything outdoors, especially riding his motorcycle and fishing.
Kota was the life of any party and he would light up any room that he entered. He was devoted to his family and always put his family first. He loved deeply and he was deeply loved. He was strong, yet humble and very respectful of others. He will be remembered for his contagious laugh and mischievous smile.
He was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents, Russell “Scooter” and Jeanette Robert and Charles and Loleda McLeod; paternal grandfather, H.Y. Johnson; and aunt, Mary McLeod.
Survivors include his fiancé, Kaitlyn Culpepper; mother and step-father, Trisha and Dewey Stringer; father and step-mother, D.J. and Danielle Johnson; two sisters, Toni Johnson and Sarah Stewart; brother, Leland Beard; maternal grandmother, Angie (Matt) Esquivel; maternal grandfather, Billy McLeod; paternal grandmother, MawMaw Sherry Ann Johnson; uncle and aunt, Russell and Ann Marie DeLancey; and a host of cousins.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at Pine Burr Church Of The Lord Jesus Christ. Burial followed in Pine Burr Church Of The Lord Jesus Christ Cemetery. Bro. W.D. Hibley officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 8, Pine Burr Church Of The Lord Jesus Christ.
