Funeral services were at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2018, in Colonial Funeral Home Chapel for Dalmar Lynn Speights, 92, of Columbia, who died on Sunday, Oct. 14 at his residence. Burial followed in Society Hill Cemetery. Mark McArthur officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at Colonial Funeral Home.

He was a native of Carson and had been a resident of Marion County for the past 25 years. He was a United States Army veteran who served in the European Theater during World War 2. He was a member of Goss Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Conrad Speights and Willard Speights, and stepson, Kenneth Barnett.

Survivors include his wife, Jerrine Speights; daughter, Lori Speights Ishman; two sons, Lanny G. Speights and Daryl Lynn Speights; two sisters, Clarice Sutton and Edith Kuhr; brother, Landal Speights; five grandchildren, Mary Ellen Boulton, Lanny G. Speights Jr., Kaylee M. Speights, Amy Ishman and Jesse L. Ishman; great-grandchild, Maggie Gail Speights, and five stepchildren, Robert Fortenberry, David Fortenberry, Jerry Fortenberry, Michael Barnett and Linda White.
