Ersele Johnson Brasell

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018, in Colonial Funeral Home Chapel for Mrs. Ersele Johnson Brasell, 95, of Georgetown, Texas, who passed away on Sunday, Sept. 23 in Georgetown. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 28 at Colonial Funeral Home.
A native of Improve, she was the fifth of 10 daughters born to William Johnson and Margie Kendrick Johnson. She was born on Jan. 28, 1923, in their family home in Improve community and worked as a telephone operator in Columbia during and immediately following World War II. In 1947, she married John Aubrey Brasell of Dadeville, Ala., and moved several times in Mississippi and Louisiana as he worked for Exxon Mobil Oil Company. From 1960 until 1979 the couple were residents of Houma, La., and were active members of the First Baptist Church in Houma. In 1979, the couple retired and returned to her family home in Improve. They remained residents there until his death in 2004 after a marriage of 56 years. She had been a resident of the Delaney at Georgetown for the past year and was recently moved to The Wesleyan following a brief illness.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed word games and crossword puzzles. She was a friend to all and enjoyed residency at a number of independent living establishments in the Tomball and Georgetown areas. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be dearly missed by all.
Survivors include her daughter, Suzanne Brasell Crossley (David) of Georgetown, Texas; son, John Aubrey Brasell Jr. (Gina Prosperie Brasell) of Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.; four grandchildren; Charles Crossley, Emily Crossley Fouts, Erin Brasell and Katie Brasell Hunley; seven great-grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Hazel Pope, Mrs. Jerrye Lamousin and Mrs. Betty Mae Cook, all of Columbia.
