A graveside memorial service will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2018, at Woodlawn Cemetery for Glen Allen Simmons Jr. of Allen, Texas, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 29, at his home surrounded by family and friends. Dr. Joe Wiggins will officiate at the service. A memorial service was held on Saturday, May 19, at Chase Oaks Church in Plano, Texas.
He was born on Sept. 16, 1966, to Glen Allen and Carolyn Fay Hogan Simmons in Columbia. He married Kristin Lynn Fortenberry on Aug. 13, 1988, in Columbia and was a member of Chase Oaks Church in Plano, Texas.
He was a loving husband, father, son, uncle, brother and friend who always had a kind word and was a gentle soul. After graduating from Columbia High School, he earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1991 and Juris Doctor Degree from Ole Miss Law School in 1994. However, he loved computers the most and spent his life's career as a senior Mac developer. He enjoyed reading, playing tennis and video games, watching science fiction movies, cheering on the Allen Eagles football team and Escadrille, and traveling with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Glen Allen Simmons Sr.
Survivors include his loving wife of 29 years, Kristin Simmons of Allen, Texas; daughters, Lauren Simmons Lewis (Jonathan) of Princeton, Texas and Kaitlin Ashleigh Simmons and Kylie Anne Simmons, both of Allen; son, Christopher Hogan Simmons of Allen; mother, Carolyn Simmons Lee (Douglas) of Picayune; sister, Karen Vines (Alan) of Hattiesburg and many other loving family members and friends.
