Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 14, 2018, at Hathorn Funeral Home for Horace Melvin Herrin, 84, of Columbia, who died on Wednesday, May 9, in Tylertown. Burial followed in Improve Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Darel Daniels officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 13, at Hathorn Funeral Home.
He was a brick mason and a member of Improve Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Juanita Herrin; one son, Byron Herrin; and one great-granddaughter, Rose Taylor Herrin.
Survivors include his wife, Mae Herrin of Columbia; one daughter, Sandy Easterling (Bruce) of Hattiesburg; one son, Neil Herrin (Amy) of Seymour, Tenn.; daughter-in-law, Kathy Herrin of Columbia; three sisters, Ruth McKenzie of Sandy Hook, Shirley Rose Dunaway (Alvin Jr.) of Rocky Branch and Charree Moore (George) of Hattiesburg; six grandchildren, April, Lacey, Christopher, Christina, Caleb and Lauryn, and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members.
