James Glyn “Jim” Hathorn

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017, at Society Hill Baptist Church for James Glyn “Jim” Hathorn, 73, of Oak Vale, who died on Sunday, Oct. 29, in Hattiesburg. Burial followed in Society Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Jake Staten, the Rev. Tommy Broom and the Rev. Mark McArthur officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31, at Colonial Funeral Home.
A native of Lawrence County, he was formerly employed with Dixie Paving and was a diesel mechanic with T.L. Wallace Construction. He retired after 53 years. He was a Baptist and was associated with Hathorn Baptist Church and Society Hill Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alford and Maude Hathorn.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Hathorn of Oak Vale; daughter, Darlene Fortenberry (Jerry) of Oak Vale; two sisters, Dimple Bridges (Henry) of Greenwood and Dorothy Runnels (James) of Magee, and two grandsons, Jaymes “R.J” Fortenberry and Jacob Lyn Fortenberry, both of Oak Vale.
Pallbearers were Jacob Fortenberry, James “R.J” Fortenberry, Travis Bass, Steve Cooper, Koby Givens, John Hathorn and J.J. Burns.
