A memorial service was held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 3, 2018, at St. Stephens Episcopal Church for Mary Garrison Jordan, 84, of Columbia, who died on Saturday, Sept. 1, in Hattiesburg. A family graveside service followed in Forrest Park Cemetery in Shreveport, La.
She lived life to the fullest and was the soulmate to Dick Jordan on their travels around the world.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Clay and Leta Garrison; grandson, John Courtney Meriwether, and two sisters, Leta Ann Eaves and Sara "Pete" Spurgin.
Survivors include her husband, Horace Richard Jordan of Columbia; his three sons, Captain Rick Jordan, Edward Jordan (Susanne) and Jack Jordan (Amy); two daughters, Leta Allen Williams of Columbia and Wendy Williams Tumey (David Thomas) of Davidson, N.C.; son, Kenneth Eugene Williams Jr. (Marlene) of Dallas, Texas; four grandchildren, Andrew David Tumey, Benjamin Garrison Tumey, Claire Francis Tumey, and Rachel Allen Meriwether; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
