W.J. “J-Boy” Dyess

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018, in Colonial Funeral Home Chapel for W.J. “J Boy” Dyess, 76, of Columbia, who died on Tuesday, Aug. 28 at his residence. Burial followed in Old Green’s Creek Cemetery in Carson. Rev. Tommy Broom officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 31 at Colonial Funeral Home.
A native of Prentiss, he was a welder and of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by a son, Tommy Bezzard; parents, Wilburn and Ruthie Pearl Dyess; sisters, Carrie Morris, Ernestine Daughdrill and Clara Bradford, and brother, George Dyess.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Dyess; four daughters, Vivian Collins, Lueazer Webb, Michelle Broom and Liz Williams; one son, Jerry Bezzard; one sister, Doris McRaney; two brothers, Buck Dyess and Marshall Dyess; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
