Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2024, at Bunker Hill Baptist Church in Columbia for Clayton Pearl Fox Jr., 64, of Columbia, who passed away on Sunday, Dec. 22, at his residence. Burial followed in New Bunker Hill Cemetery in Columbia. Bro. Donnie Bond and Jeff Bates officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 1 p.m. until the time of the services on Thursday, Dec. 26, at Bunker Hill Baptist Church.

He was a man with a passion for life and a talent for bringing people together. He enjoyed the culinary arts, finding joy in creating delicious meals for his family and friends. A skilled woodworker, he possessed a creative spirit and a meticulous eye for detail. Above all, he was an "all-around people person," cherished for his warm personality, his engaging conversations and his ability to make everyone feel welcome.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clayton Pearl Fox Sr.; mother, Mamie Joyce Chick Fox; and brother-in-law, Timmy Bates.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Sue "Susie" Bates Fox; son, William Heath Fox (Dawn); daughter, Ashley Hoots; stepson, Brian Blalock; two grandchildren, Lillie Fox and Hallie Fox; three sisters, Marshia Pigg (Barry), Judy Vining and Gayle Word; a host of nephews, nieces and friends; five brothers-in-law, Jeff Bates (Melissa), Jack Bates (Beth), Billy Bates Sr., Mikey Bates (Crystal) and John Bates; and two sisters-in-law, Belinda Brady (Adam) and Jenny Hibley (James).
Pallbearers were Billy Bates Sr., Mikey Bates, Adam Brady, Jay Lowry, Austin Bates, Tyler Simmons, Devin Simmons and Nick Colvin. Honorary pallbearers were Michael Bates, Jeff Bates, Jack Bates and John Bates.
