Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at Hathorn Funeral Home for Hazel L. Johnson, 83, of Columbia, who passed away on Sunday, June 16. Burial followed in Crossroad Church Cemetery in Carson. Rev. Darrell Daniels officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 11 a.m. until the time of the services on Wednesday, June 19, at Hathorn Funeral Home.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Thurman Johnson; parents, John B. May and Bernice May; one sister, Winnie “Jo” Davis; one great-grandson, Kannon Fortenberry; and one great-great-grandson, Jack Jennings.
Survivors include her six children; Lawana Manata, Debra “Debbie” Garner, Mike Johnson, Samantha “Sam” Meidl (Bob), Kimberly “Kim” Johnson and Steve Johnson (Michelle); one sister, Shirley McNease; 15 grandchildren and a number of great and great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were James Meidl, Gerald Meidl, Jason Meidl, Keith Garner, Scott Garner and Brennan Malley. Honorary pallbearers were Branton Malley, Braxton Malley and Rusty O’Quin.
