Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Colonial Funeral Home for Helen Reid Roberts, 82, of Columbia, who was welcomed into the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, March 10, while being surrounded by all of her family and friends. Burial followed in Foxworth Cemetery. Rev. Tyler Chavis officiated at the services. Visitation was held from noon until the time of the services on Friday, March 14, at Colonial Funeral Home.
She was born in Columbia to James Lester Reid and Eria Christine Morris Reid and remained a lifelong resident of Marion County. She worked for several years as a grocery store cashier and eventually retired to become a full-time homemaker. She was a doting wife and mother to her husband and four children. Helen was known for her loving and caring spirit. She had such an outgoing personality and never met a stranger. She will be remembered for the deep and caring love she had for her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, C.M. Roberts; daughter, Donna Marie Holmes; son-in-law, Bruce Magee; sister, Mary Alice Terrell; and grandson, Bedri Scott Dunaway.
Survivors include her two daughters, Deborah Magee and Michelle Powell (Greg); son, Paul Roberts; brother, Donald Reid (Susan); three sisters-in-law, Norma Carr, Theresa Popwell (James) and Louise Roberts; six grandchildren, Trelys Magee (Chastity), Kelly Dunaway, Ramsey Roberts (Kacey), Matthew Holmes (Jessica), Logan Powell (Shelby) and Paxton Powell; eight great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Trelys Magee, Ramsey Roberts, Matthew Holmes, Logan Powell, Paxton Powell, Gabe Roberts, Bryant Magee and Caedmon Roberts.
Colonial Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
