Joshua Landon Stoots
33, Fernandina Beach, Fla.
Graveside memorial services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 29, 2023, in Pine Grove United Pentecostal Church Cemetery in Foxworth for Joshua Landon Stoots, 33, of Fernandina Beach, Fla., who passed away on Sunday, Dec. 17, at his residence. Rev. Darrin L. Powell and Rev. Randy M. Jones officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 28, and from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the services on Friday, Dec. 29, at Pine Grove United Pentecostal Church.
He was born Oct. 2, 1990, in Denver, Colo., to Ronnie L. Stoots Jr. and Juli Powell Stoots. After graduation, he earned a technical certificate in culinary arts from Florida State College of Jacksonville. He was employed by various companies in Florida, Mississippi and Ohio, working in technology, sales, data entry and supervision. He was most recently a sales manager at Tire Kingdom in Fernandina Beach, Fla.
He was a life long learner and pursued knowledge with passion. He was widely known as a skilled outdoorsman, gifted wordsmith, talented chef, chief tinkerer and a high-ranking international gamer. At a very young age, he was drawn to the history and culture of Ireland and was thrilled to learn that he was of Irish descent. Communication was of utmost importance to him. He was very quick-witted and ready with a comeback always. Sharing his wealth of immense knowledge in accurate detail was truly a gift.
A co-worker paid tribute to him, “Protective and defender, almost like a big brother. Could make anyone laugh and hold a conversation with anyone. An extraordinary person and a wonderful personality. The world lost a beautiful soul.”
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Ronnie L. Stoots Sr. and Melvin L. Powell.
Survivors include his parents; two siblings, Kayla Stoots (Denzel) and Tyler Stoots; one nephew, Carter Watkins, two nieces, Adelyn Corley and Eloise Stoots; grandmothers, Linda Johnson Stoots and Lynda Holmes Powell; his sweetheart, Mazlynn ‘Maz’ McQuilkin; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Pallbearers were Ashleigh Daniel, Darrin Ham, Drew Powell, Lane Powell, Wesley Powell, Andrew Sims, Robert Sims, Kayla Stoots, Rick Stoots and Tyler Stoots.
Hathorn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
