Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2024, at Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home Sumrall Chapel for Maxie Lee Williamson Broome, 89, of Sumrall, who died on Monday, Feb. 5, in Hattiesburg. Burial followed in Williamson Cemetery. Rev. J.T. Farve and Rev. Everett Broome officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 7, at Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home Sumrall Chapel.
She was born on March 18, 1934. She was a homemaker and a member of Melba Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Shelly Ovett Broome; grandson, Lee Brantly Bates: parents, Laton and Virgie Williamson; five brothers, Oliver, Jimmy, Otis, Alton "Snout" and Chuck Williamson; three sisters, Lizzie Bounds, Goldie Mae "Pet" Hanberry, and Gaitha "Cubby" Stuart.
Survivors include her son, Shelton Broome (Shirley) of Sumrall; two daughters, Alicia Stringer (Darell) of Foxworth and Nigel Head (Robbie) of Collins: special friend, Clay Aultman (Amye) of Laclede, Idaho; one sister, Azalene "Lady" Breakfield of Sumrall; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
