O.K. "Kenny" Moore Sr.
91, Columbia
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 12, 2024, at Hathorn Funeral Home for O.K. “Kenny” Moore Sr., 91, of Columbia, who passed away on Tuesday, April 9, at his residence. Burial followed in Kendrick Cemetery in Columbia. Rev. George Moore officiated at the services. Mitch Moore provided special music. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, at Hathorn Funeral Home.
He was a longtime resident of Columbia and served his nation faithfully as a member of the United States Army and the National Guard. Altogether, his service time included the Korean War Conflict and spanned some 26 years. He operated a service station business since 1955, ending his business career with Moore’s Auto Service Center/Moore Oil Company. From 2000 to 2004, he served as a Mississippi State Representative for District 100. Faith and family were important parts of his life, evidenced by his 67 years of faithful membership and deacon service with Temple Baptist Church in Columbia.
He was preceded in death by his infant daughter; his parents, Oscar Dewey and Lutia Gay Kendrick Moore; one brother, Floyd Moore; three sisters, Deloris Baughman, Sue Beets and Ann Haddox; one grandchild, Samuel Moore Robbins; and one great-grandchild, Samuel Nathan Robbins.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Helen Catherine Duncan Moore of Columbia; one son, Oscar Kenneth Moore Jr. of Columbia; three daughters, Kathy Robbins (Lavon), Janet Buckley (Cody) and Cindy Aultman (Larry), all of Columbia; one brother, Rev. George Moore (Charree); six grandchildren, Jeremy Robbins, Cory Buckley Townsend, Elizabeth Robbins Rawls, Laremy Aultman (Melanie), Josh Aultman (Skyler) and Nunner Robbins (Aundrea); 13 great-grandchildren, Maggie Marie Townsend, Jay Buck Townsend, Clara Von Rawls, Fletcher Rawls, Vivian Elizabeth Thornhill, Addie Katherine Robbins, Walker Robbins, Rowdy Robbins, Carson Griner, Cade Edwards, Brayden Woodward, Kaycen Woodward and Acy Cole Aultman; granddaughter-in-law, Brook Robbins; and a number of nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
Pallbearers were Jeremy Robbins, Laremy Aultman, Josh Aultman, Nunner Robbins, Jay Buck Townsend and Fletcher Rawls. Honorary pallbearers were Tommy Craft, Harold Bryant, Ronnie Ellis, Herbert Arinder and Garrett Douglas.
We were sad to see him go, but we know he is at home with the Lord and having a reunion with family and friends. We will miss him so! He was a son, brother, uncle, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many.
