Thaddeus Newton Shows

A private family gathering was held for Thaddeus Newton Shows, 88, of Lenoir City, Tenn., formerly of Columbia, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at his son’s home.
He was a long time member and elder of Columbia Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed a successful career as a ground water geologist. He worked for many years at Griner Drilling Service before setting up his own company as a consulting geologist. He was a long time board member of the Mississippi and National Rural Water Association and also a long time member of the Lions Club.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Frances Seavey Shows; infant son, John R. Shows; and sisters, Flora Goldstein and Ann Lagerlef.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Thad Shows Jr. and Karen Shows; daughter and son-in-law, Margie Young and Lloyd Young; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who enriched his life beyond measure.
The family would like to express a special thanks to Thad’s care givers, Shannon, Jackie, Cricket, Dana and Shirley in Mississippi, and Karen, Jennifer and Ketha in Tennessee. Their love and compassionate care were a blessing to Thad and his family.
