We have become mush, people. Seriously, we are mush. How many people really understand what this year is? I mean truly understand what this year is? In all honesty you really cannot tell.
In case you haven’t figured it out, it is a presidential election year. Looking at the news it would be hard to tell.
In fact looking at the news for the last few years it would be hard to tell anything when it comes to our federal politicians and what they are accomplishing because all they do now is focus on bickering back and forth. The worst part about it is it has gotten so bad most people don’t even pay attention because the federal government has been a circus for years.
When was the last time you can remember when they were actually working for the good of the people? From day one since President Donald Trump entered office the Democrats have been trying to impeach him. In fact it still going on.
It’s an election year, people. If you don’t like the current president vote for a new one in November. Why waste millions and millions of dollars tying up precious time when things like running the country should be more important? I am not saying this is all the Democrats’ fault either; the Republicans were just as bad when President Barak Obama was in office.
This is just my opinion: Congress is more worried about who is president than passing good legislation.
Who is to blame? Unfortunately that would fall directly on each of us. We have become complacent with how things are going in Washington. It is easy to just ignore the circus or worse yet participate and encourage the circus. How many memes are posted daily mocking politicians? We are more interested in watching this crazy reality show that is called our federal government or watching the scandal of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex break away from the royal family in England.
When is the last time we have contacted our politicians in Washington with concerns regarding our country? When was the last time “we the people” have said enough is enough and “we the people” demanded politicians to start running the country like civilized adults that they were elected to do and supposedly promised?
As parents we try to raise our children to behave and act with honesty, integrity and compassion, yet we allow our politicians to act like 2-year-olds, their way or no way, and they throw temper tantrums to add the exclamation mark.
It is time we demand better treatment from our politicians for our country. We would not allow our household be run like the federal government. We need to demand those we put in office to work better for our country, not to better the party. We need less extremism either way, division and drama and more cooperation remembering there is a goal for the common good of man.
As citizens we need to be more proactive and less reactive and complacent. Our voices needs to be heard on every level from the city and county boards, to our state senators and representatives, to our federal senators and representatives and even to our president. It is not a right or a privilege we have; it is our responsibility. No one has the right to complain about the state of our nation if we are not willing to make an effort and demand better from the very ones we voted to put in office.
Stand with me as we go into this new political season and demand better treatment of the great land. Demand better behavior than what is currently being played out all across the country. Our elected officials need to be held accountable.
We would not let 2-year-olds run our house; let’s not let them run our country either.
