Tuesday is Election Day for the Republican and Democratic Presidential Primaries, United States Senate and U.S. Congress throughout Marion County and the state. Polls at all 22 voting precincts in Marion County will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
On the Republican ticket for president are former President Donald Trump along with challengers Nikki Haley, Ron DeSantis and Vivek Ramaswamy. Although DeSantis and Ramaswamy have publicly announced the end of their presidential bids, neither officially withdrew from Mississippi’s ballot, according to Marion County Circuit Clerk Janette Nolan.
President Joe Biden is running unopposed on the Democratic ticket.
Vying for the senate on the Republican ticket are incumbent Roger Wicker, Ghannon Burton and Dan Eubanks, while Ty Pinkins is running unopposed on the Democratic ticket.
Republican Michael Guest is running unopposed for the 3rd Congressional District.
If a runoff is required in any of the races, that election will be held April 2.
The deadline for absentee voting is Saturday at noon, and the Circuit Clerk’s office will be open from 8 a.m. until noon. The office is located at 250 Broad St. and can be contacted at (601) 736-8246.
