Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017, at Hathorn Funeral Home for Alma Elizabeth Prine, 68, of Columbia, who passed away on Sunday, Oct. 8, in Hattiesburg. Interment followed in Woodlawn Cemetery. Bro. Philip Duncan, Bro. Ron Alexander and Bro. Joe Wiggins officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 10, at Hathorn Funeral Home.
As a lifelong resident of Marion County, Elizabeth loved cooking, especially her famous pound cake, for her family and many friends. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making others laugh. She was a long-time, faithful member of North Columbia Baptist Church. For 35 years she served as the bookkeeper for the family business, Prine Alignment, where she was a joy to all the customers and friends that came in for service. One of her greatest joys in life was becoming a grandmother to Marshall Prine Lewis--her heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel Sidney and Curtiss Marie Pierce; sister, Sandra Howard, and brother, Danny Pierce.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Ralph "Bo" Prine; two daughters, Renea Prine of Columbia and Margaret Prine (Robert Lewis) of Jackson; one sister, Kathy Townsend (Kenny) of Moselle, and one grandson, Marshall Prine Lewis of Jackson.
