Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017, at Hathorn Funeral Home for Clyde Polk Jr., 82, of Tampa, Fla., who died on Wednesday, Aug. 23, in Safety Harbor, Fla. Interment followed in Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Dan Carr officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 30, at Hathorn Funeral Home.
He left home at 17 to join the U.S. Army in which he was a member of the 82nd Airborne Rangers, Special Forces. Clyde retired from Saudi ARAMCO as an offshore drilling foreman. Through his service and work, he has seen much of the world.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Polk Sr. and Elizabeth Polk; brothers, Howard Earl Polk, James K Polk and Dusty Polk, and sisters, Joan Polk and Shirley Polk.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Marie Polk; daughter, Anna Hurst (Randy); grandchildren, John Hurst and Alexandra Hurst; sisters, Barbara Dement and Clara Comeaux, and brothers; Jesse Polk, Joe Polk, Jerry Polk and Tony Polk.
