Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018, at Colonial Funeral Home for Emery A. Pope, 70, of Columbia, who died on Sunday, Jan. 7, in Columbia. Burial followed in Woodlawn Cemetery. The Rev. Reed Houston officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 9, at Colonial Funeral Home.
He was longtime owner and manager of Pope Tire Service and a member of Wahabi Shrine Temple in Jackson. He was a member of Foxworth Methodist Church and an accomplished horseman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emery and Elsie Pope.
Survivors include his wife, Claire Pope; daughter, Priscilla Pope; two sons, Charles Pope (Sabrina) and Emery Pope (Julia), and five grandchildren.
