A private graveside service was held at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017, in Brushy Creek Cemetery for Hubert LaRoy Powell, 72, of Columbia. Bro. Doug Barber, Bro. Tim Morrison and Bro. Yancy Magee officiated at the service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Ada S. Powell; sister, Willie Jean Rayborn; brother, Hinton Powell, and grandson, Triston McLain.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Powell of Columbia; six children, Cathy Alexander (Danny) of Columbia, Karen Blanchard (Dan) of Long Beach, Bert Powell (Shanta) and Connie Thompson (Sharbert), both of Columbia, Rebecca Dement (Ransome) of Lumberton and Juanita McLain of Columbia; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
