A Memorial service was held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 8, 2017, at Hathorn Funeral Home for Ida Sue Pennington, 75, of Hattiesburg, who passed away on Monday, Sept. 4, in Hattiesburg. Bishop James Carney officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 9 a.m. until the time of the services on Friday, Sept. 8, at Hathorn Funeral Home.
She loved her family and grandchildren dearly and loved cooking for all of them. For several years, she worked for Bellsouth in South Carolina. She was known by her family as chauffeur, teacher and provider. She was nana, mama and a best friend. She will be greatly loved and missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rayford and Audry Summerville, and one sister, Carolyn Rushing.
Survivors include her son, Jeff Pennington (Sonia) of Columbia; two daughters, Haden Ferguson (Shane) of Springfield, La., and Stephanie Pennington of Hattiesburg and two grandchildren, Chandler Pennington of Columbia and Courtlyn Pennington of Pearl.
