Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2017, at Colonial Funeral Home for Elder John M. Miller, 69, of Columbia, who died on Wednesday, June 28, in Ridgeland. Interment followed in Mt. Gilead Cemetery. Elder Joe Lott, Bro. Greg Bennett, Bro. Stan Bennett and Bro. Dewitt Bain officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday, June 30, at Colonial Funeral Home.
A native of Columbia, he was a Baptist minister and pastored several churches in south Mississippi. He was a member of Sanford Missionary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Goar Miller, and father, J.E. Miller.
Survivors include his mother, Ernie Lee Miller of Houston, Texas; son, Dr. John M. Miller II of Flowood; sisters, Debbie Sanders and Lee Ann McMahon (Wayne), both of Texas; grandchildren, Andrew Miller and Maggie Miller; sister-in-law, Frances Goar Bennett of the Improve Community and several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
