A private memorial service will be held at a later date for Linda Y. Harger, 75, of Columbia, who passed away peacefully on Monday, July 10, 2017, at her son’s home in Hurley after an extended struggle with COPD. She requested that there be no formal burial or ceremony.
Linda was an office manager for Bellsouth for 30 years. The majority of her working years were spent in Jacksonville, Fla. After her retirement in 1994, she moved to Pensacola, Fla., where she was head of her Condominium’s Home Owners Association.
She was preceded in death by her father, Curtis B. Young Sr.; grandfather, Burley Young; grandmother, Nannie Mae Young and sister, Sadie Y. Rogers, all of Columbia.
Survivors include her mother, Dorothy Young; one brother, Curtis B. Young Jr. of Columbia; one son, Bryan C. Harger (Mary Ann) of Hurley; two grandchildren, Lauren Hitt (Jason) of Vancleave and Landon Harger (Jaade) of Hurley; one great-grandson, Blaine Carter Hitt of Vancleave; two aunts, Vera Y. Broome of Columbia and Barbara Bass of Petal and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family wishes to thank those who cared for her during her illness.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent in her name to the American Lung Association.
