Martha Rose Burns

A Memorial Mass was held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Paulding for Martha Rose Burns, of Rose Hill, who died on Sunday, Aug. 27, in Mobile, Ala, where she had resided since 2014.
She was native of Rose Hill and a former resident of Columbia. She also resided in Hattiesburg from 1982 until 2014 and was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Paulding. She graduated as a registered nurse from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, worked at Marion County General Hospital in Columbia, Methodist Hospital in Hattiesburg and retired from Forest General Hospital in 1984.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cormac Burns; parents, James and Cyrillus F. Finnegan; brothers, John Finnegan, William Finnegan, Lawrence Finnegan, Charles Finnegan, Thomas Finnegan, Joseph Finnegan, Herman Finnegan and Patrick Finnegan and sisters, Sr. Melanie Finnegan, R.S.M., Velma Boswell, Marguerite Finnegan and Sr. Teresa Finnegan, R.S.M.
Survivors include her two daughters, Kathy Schumacher and Teresa Trudeau; one son-in-law, Tom Trudeau; two granddaughters, Claire Pegues and Sara Pegues; two sisters-in-law, Mamie Finnegan and Evelyn Finnegan and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Ascension Funerals and Cremations, 1016 Hillcrest Road, Mobile, AL 36695, was in charge of arrangements.
