Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 30, 2017, at Hathorn Funeral Home for Mary Ellen Hammond Lawton, 90, of Gassville, who died on Wednesday, Oct. 25, in Gassville. Interment followed in Woodlawn Cemetery. Bro. Dane Hodges officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 11 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 30, at Hathorn Funeral Home.
She was a long time resident of Marion County. Her journey on Earth is over but she leaves behind a host of friends and extended family from all over.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Austin and Havanna Bullock; husband, Benny Lavon Hammond; husband, Richard Lawton and granddaughter, Christie Fitch.
Survivors include her two sons, Don Hammond (Lennie) of Brookhaven and Thomas Hammond (Kathy) of Tyler, Texas; three daughters, Gayle Goodman (Ed) of Flippin, Ark., Donna Jean Dominguez (Pedro) of Hattiesburg and Dr. Karen Pennington (Jim) of Pensacola, Fla., and 13 grandchildren.
