Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 2, 2017, in Hathorn Funeral Home Chapel for Ryvers Morgan May, 96, of Carrollton, Ga., who passed away on Monday, June 26. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 2, at Hathorn Funeral Home.
She was the beloved wife of William E. “Bill” May for 61 years before he preceded her in death in 2002. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She lived at Cottage Landing Senior Living in Carrollton, Ga., for the past four years.
She was born in Morgantown on April 16, 1921, the daughter of the late Cleveland Sedgie Morgan and Audrey Allison Morgan. She enjoyed spending time with her family and welcoming everyone into her home. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church Columbia. She loved God’s creations and delighted in doing her part to feed and care for nature and wildlife. She was proud to be a member of the Abraham Baldwin Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Opal Morgan, and brothers, Eldridge Morgan and Feldon “Bud” Morgan.
Survivors include her children, Tina Clune (Tom) of Carrollton, Ga., Ruth May of Dallas, Texas and Bill May of Kennesaw, Ga.; grandchildren, John Clune (Suzi) of Lawrenceville, Ga., Shannon Waldrop (Phillip) of Villa Rica, Ga. and Morgan May and Allison May, both of Pascagoula; great grandchildren, Ashley Rose Clune, Brooke Madison Clune, Lily Ryvers Waldrop, Abby May Waldrop and Wiley Samuel Waldrop; brother, John Morgan of Columbia and a host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to the Cure Alzheimer's Fund. This organization is dedicated to funding research with the highest probability of preventing, slowing or reversing Alzheimer's disease.
