9/11 walk set for Saturday

Saturday morning, the annual 9/11 Memorial Walk will begin at Columbia Fire Station No. 1 on Evergreen Street at 8 a.m.
The walk is to remember the sacrifices of all the first responders who lost their lives 20 years ago when the U.S. suffered its first terrorist attack. More than 3,000 people were killed on Sept. 11, 2001.

City employees, others continue to help

For some city employees and volunteers, Monday was truly a Labor Day as they spent the day working in the LaPlace/Reserve area of Louisiana. The convoy of eight vehicles pulled out at 7:20 a.m. and returned home late that night at 8:30 p.m. They arrived home tired, sweaty and wet after working more than six hours in the sun and rain.
