City to try pothole patching machine

Columbia officials are planning to begin using a pothole patching machine again that has been sitting idle in the city barn.

Alderman Jason Stringer said during Tuesday’s meeting that the machine is collecting cobwebs now and encouraged trying to see how it works.

Trailer involved in family dispute burns down Tuesday

A property owner in northeast Marion County reported she saw a relative coming out of a trailer on her property just before a blaze burned it down Tuesday morning.

Arson investigators were set to come to the scene at 137 Russell Lane Wednesday. It has a Sumrall address but is in the Christian Union community in Marion County.
