“Counting Every Blessing” by Rend Collective played as the wedding party of Elizabeth Winton and Nicholas Souhlas took their places for the evening outdoor ceremony at The Dogwood Venue in Sumrall, Miss. on April 21, 2018. The ceremony was officiated by Chad Davis, pastor of the Venue Church in Hattiesburg.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tracy Winton of Columbia and the granddaughter of Mr. And Mrs. Reese Slaughter of Bremen, Ga. and of Bill Winton and the late Betty Winton of Goldthwaite, Texas. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Souhlas of Lacombe, La. and is the grandson of the late Nicholas and Hazel Souhlas of New Orleans and Mr. and Mrs. Gerard Lemoine of Arabi, La.
Escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a full-length ball gown with a lace and tulle bodice and skirt, accented by a Swarovski crystal belt. Elizabeth wore her mother’s cathedral length veil.
Elizabeth’s bridesmaids wore long champagne colored chiffon dresses with flutter sleeves. The groom and his groomsmen wore black tuxedoes, accented with champagne and white. Carlton Thornhill of Columbia designed and arranged a variety of white flowers and greenery for the bouquets and backdrop for the ceremony.
The bride carried a bouquet of white English Bridal roses, Hydrangeas, and Peonies, accented with Astilbe and Seeded Eucalyptus, collared with Dusty Miller greenery. Family and friends gathered to celebrate the occasion.
Kaelyn Wolf sang “How Deep the Father’s Love for Us” by Joy Williams while accompanied by Claire Tynes on the piano and Chris Hall on acoustic guitar, while the couple partook of Holy Communion as their first act of worship as husband and wife. After their first kiss as a married couple, the bride and groom led a joyous recessional to “This Will Be An Everlasting Love” by Natalie Cole.
The reception was held inside the Dogwood Venue where guests enjoyed a variety of food prepared by Le’Envie Catering, almond wedding cake from Sister Moon Cakery, and chocolate chip cookie groom’s cake from Town Square Bakery. The celebration continued as the bride and groom danced with family and friends, to music provided by the Tommy Morse Band of Mobile, Ala.
Later that evening, the couple departed the Dogwood Venue in a horse and carriage, brought from Texas and driven by the bride’s grandfather, Bill Winton. They rode along the Longleaf Trace, which provided a serene ending to an exciting day of celebration.
Attending as maid of honor was the groom’s sister, Victoria Souhlas of New Orleans. Bridesmaids were Abbie Gray Dungan of Brookhaven, Alex Milstead of Jackson, Alli Goscinski of New Orleans, Ashley Doubleday of New Orleans, Camryn Mitchell of Memphis, Charity Roberts Bekkers of Perry, Ga, Claire Tynes of Hattiesburg (pianist), Elizabeth Whitehead Woods of Jackson, Heather Chopin Herrington of Mobile, Kaelyn Wolfe of Hattiesburg (vocalist), Meredith Ratcliff of Nashville, and Victoria Yoder of Columbia.
The groom’s father, Mr. Joe Souhlas served as best man. The groomsmen were Ben Waddle of Hattiesburg, Dylan Copeland of Sarahland, Ala, Hunter Hawkins of Hattiesburg, Jake DiCarlo of Slidell, La, James Johnson of Slidell, Josh Jones of Jackson, Juan Rodriguez of Los Angeles, Calif, Matthew McMullen of Ridgeland, Nick Missel of Mobile, Robert Temple of Mobile, Sam White of Panama City, Fla, and Will Allen of Hattiesburg.
Serving as ushers were Blake Dunaway of Columbia, and Dustin Sampey of Madisonville, La, cousin of the groom. Chris Hall (guitarist) served as usher, as well as escorted his son Nash, as the ring bearer in a white wagon trimmed with greenery and a variety of white flowers.
The flower girls were Eliza Gray Rackley, friend of the bride and daughter of John and Pamela Rackley of Madison; Ansley Gremillion, cousin of the bride and daughter of Ashley and Greg Gremillion of Alabaster, Ala; and Kinley Coker, cousin of the bride and daughter of Mitch and Shanna Coker of Mineral Wells, Texas.

On the eve of the wedding, the parents of the groom hosted a rehearsal dinner at Cotton Blues Restaurant in Hattiesburg.
The couple is now residing in Austin, Texas.
