Columbia man brings narcotics to parole meeting

A Columbia man is behind bars after showing up to his parole meeting at the Mississippi Department of Corrections office allegedly under the influence of methamphetamine as well as possessing a pipe and two grams of methamphetamine.

Justina Crawley, who has worked at the Columbia Post Office on Main Street for 12 years, is set to retire on Friday. She is also the creator of the Church Street Fairy House.

Whether it be mailing a parcel, buying stamps or applying for a passport, there has been a familiar face in Columbia ready to help. Justina Crawley, a native Marion Countian and Columbia High School alumna, is retiring after 25 years with the United States Postal Service.

Verkese Conerly and Coreyon Brister, who were arrested Nov. 26 for a shooting that claimed the life of Zamarkus Brister at Reagan’s Corner in Kokomo, were given similar instructions by Justice Court Judge Brandon Rowell Tuesday to stay away from one another while they remain incarcerated at the Marion County Regional Correctional Facility.
