Sheriff’s litter program named top in state

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office inmate litter program was recently named tops in the state.
The joint award from Keep Mississippi Beautiful and the Mississippi Department of Transportation honored the county for picking up the most roadside litter in the state as part of the inmate labor program.

Employee charged in theft from Walmart

An employee of the Columbia Walmart Supercenter was arrested and charged with embezzlement last week.
Emily Baker, 23, of Columbia was charged with embezzlement/ entrusted public property/ funds converted for own use by the Columbia Police Department after an investigation led to her arrest on July 16.
