Investigation continues in Columbia shooting death

Columbia Police Chief Michael Kelly said on Thursday the investigation is continuing in the shooting death of Timothy McDaniel who died on July 4.
McDaniel was at his home on Alberta Ave. and died of a gunshot wound by a .9 mm gun. Kelly said the investigation is ongoing determining whether the wound was self-inflicted or not.

Fiscal year ends in black

The Marion County Board of Supervisors met this week for their first meeting of the new fiscal year. On Wednesday, County CPA Charlie Prince discussed the closing of the previous fiscal year that ended Sept. 30 and informed the board that the county is in fine financial standing.
